Racecars!

080908-Misc-029
While at home on the weekends, every now and then I hear what sounds like auto racing... well this past Saturday I decided to investigate. Low and behold, it is auto racing!

The New England Region of Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) uses Moore Army Air Field for autocross events. The Air Field is located in the former North Post of Fort Devens. It’s about three miles from my house.

Autocross is a skill driving event in which one car at a time negotiates a prescribed course, using traffic cones to define a variety of turns. The sites are usually laid out on huge, open parking lots, or on sections of airport runways (in the case of Devens). I saw everything from Mini Coppers to old F1 cars racing. It was very cool.
